Do You Not Love Me, Oh Lord?

Do You Not Love Me, Oh Lord?
12" x 6" x 4"
Wood, yarn, found objects
September 2010

This little piece I created while being the Teachers Assistant at George Fox University's sculpture class. Professor Tim Timmerman was part of a Day of the Dead Show and created a piece called "Geppetto; in memory of the papa some boys wanted but never had”. Each of his sculpture students made a little wooden boy and this was the one I built with them.

What the Bark

Untitled
33" x 23"
Bark, cotton, found wood
October 2010

I might have found this bark while hiking in Montana...and I might have fallen in love with it and instantly saw this piece come to life in my mind. But for the life of me I cannot think of a title!

Rising Wolf

Rising to the Metal Sun

28" x 11"
Ceramic, Wool yarn
December 2010

Rising to the Painted Skies
28" x 11"
Ceramic, batik cotton, embroidery floss
December 2010

These pieces were done after I had gone on a road trip with my friend Trisha to see my in-laws. The Sherwoods' live by Glacier National Park so we went hiking. The hike we did was by Rising Wolf Mountain (It is the central peak.) This is my relief interpretation from a photograph I took at Two Medicine Lake. I have a third set high fired but haven't found the right material to finish it with.
